When people think about Dallas, they might think of the Cowboys, JFK & the Dealey Plaza, or even Mark Cuban & the Mavs. But did you know that Dallas is the most foodie-friendly city in Texas? As a matter of fact, it ranks the 15th in Bloomberg’s list of cities with most eateries per capita in the U.S. Yep! The Big D has everything from Tex-Mex, soul food, BBQ to Indian restaurants scattered around its neighborhoods. Since moving here back in 2014, I have been enjoying my culinary adventure here in Dallas, and my recent discovery is this Uptown tavern-slash-eatery called Henry’s Majestic.
The first thing you would notice if you drove by this place is its spacious, wood-covered patio, which is where I’d prefer to be seated, especially at this time of the year in Dallas, when the temperature is in the 60s (Snow? What snow? This is February!). The patio is actually pet and kid-friendly (no highchairs, but they do have booster seats!). If you do choose to sit in the indoor area though, you’ll get more of Henry Majestic’s industrial, modern, and eclectic vibe.
Another thing that you would notice and immediately like about this place is its complimentary valet parking. For a restaurant in this area, this is a gem! Imagine going off highway 75 and trying to find a parking spot around the busy area!
Anyways, what kind of food do they serve? Elevated American cuisine. And when I said ‘elevated’ I meant creative spins on familiar dishes like, Bourbon Maple Meatballs and even Texas ‘Pho’. They both sound good but my favorite dish so far is the famous Henry’s Marrow-Spiked Burger!
Akaushi beef patty on brioche buns, bacon, caramelized onion, aged cheddar, house pickles, marrow spread, served with salad and housemade chips — oh my gosh! Talking about elevation! That’s a whole ‘nother level of burger-making right there! The patty is not overly seasoned so it perfectly balances the marrow spread and the saltiness of the bacon. Oh! I honestly don’t think you need mustard or ketchup for this burger, it’s just good the way it is.
Besides serving good food, Henry’s Majestic is serious about their drinks (they even have 2 bar areas to prove it!). They have both “A.M.” and “P.M.” cocktails as well as beer and wine, but my favorite is Can’t Hardly Wait, an A.M. cocktail with blackberries, lemon juice, whiskey, and sage.
Yum…Refreshing, fruity, but strong. Just what a mama needs every once in a while, right? Well I honestly think Henry’s Majestic is ‘okay’ when it comes to being kid-friendly, because they obviously don’t have kids meal or crayons or anything like that. So it’s not my first choice to take my family to on a weekend. However this joint would be a great place for dinner and drinks with your mommy-friends for sure! It’s not one of those intimidating fancy establishments, where you have to dress to impress or else you’re out. It’s hip yet relaxed. Just the way I want my weekends to feel like.
As of now, I am an alien. No seriously, because I haven’t applied for a U.S. citizenship yet 😉 I’m a wife and a mom who’s passionate about media-arts industry, alternative hip-hop, and lazy Mondays with my son. I blog about motherhood, restaurants & events in Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, life & style, and…I have just started a Youtube channel! I am a proud Indonesian and I think Southeast Asians have the best food, period. When I’m not running around with my son, you could find me posting on social media.
