When I went off to college, my new roommates gave me a small shelf in the kitchen to house all of my food and utensils. Luckily enough the extent of my kitchen tools consisted of two plastic cereal bowls, two forks, two knives, two spoons, and two plastic cups. Thankfully one of my roommates let me use her little pot and pan and we had a microwave to share.
While I’m still not exactly sure how I survived, considering the amount of kitchen tools the movers complained about having to pack this summer, but I have a feeling it had something to do with my love for Oriental Top Ramen and the crappy mexican joint down the street. But who knew that all I needed was a mug to go with my microwave!
For all you poor college students who can’t afford to eat out as often as you’d like, we’ve gathered together some creative and delicious recipes that can be made simply with a mug and a microwave (and maybe a few other utensils here and there).

I’m obsessed with ice cream and spend my days studying, experimenting, churning, and taste-testing my own concoctions. I’m well practiced at spending hours in the car singing to Journey and munching on salt & vinegar chips while roadtripping to beaches, cities, and great eateries. When I’m not eating food or making ice cream, I read books, work on my subpar photography skills, and explore my current home of Indiana with my husband and best friend, Josh.
